Customs officials recover $ 86340 worth smuggled gold hidden inside baggage trolley at airport in Southern India

Airport customs officials seized gold worth over $ 86340 ( Rs 64 lakhs) hidden inside baggage trolleys in Chennai International Airport of Tamil Nadu, the south Indian state.

The incident occurred on December 15 in Chennai.

The customs official is seen removing the hidden gold bits from the baggage trolley and gold paste hidden inside in a jeans pant which was stitched is being removed.

Seized gold is displayed for further investigation.

As per the reports, seven passengers arrived at Chennai International Airport from Dubai by Flight IX 1644.

Two passengers identified as Rahuman Hameed (25), Mohamed Niyas (33) had gold bits ingeniously concealed in the hollow pipes of trolleys.

Five other passengers had gold paste bundles concealed in rectum.

Another passenger who had arrived from Dubai by Emirates EK542 had gold paste in two long plastic pouches stitched inside his jeans pants.

One of them who had a case registered against him earlier was arrested and the officials are investigating the case.
