This unusual-looking aircraft catches the attention of plane spotters in the UK
This unusual-looking aeroplane dubbed the "Beluga" by aircraft company Airbus is a sight to behold for plane spotters.
Footage from December 16 at the East Midlands Airport near Castle Donnington shows the bottle-nosed plane taking off and landing as plane spotters can be seen catching a glimpse.
The filmer explained: "Love it or hate it, this beast of a plane caught the attention of plane enthusiasts in the East Midlands on the today after visiting East Midlands Airport to practice touch and goes - take-off and landing.
"The oddly shaped plane gets its name from its resemblance to the beluga whale.
"The Airbus Beluga XL is a super-transporter cargo plane which is 63 metres in length and has a wingspan of 60 metres, with a maximum takeoff weight of 227,000 kg (227 tonnes).
"By 2023, Airbus will have six of them.
"The first to enter service started operating in January this year.
"The plane had original planned to visit the airport at 10 am but diverted to Newcastle due to strong crosswinds.
"On its return wind was still high making for challenging practice conditions."
