Footage shows rescuers helping stranded residents evacuate from a village in the Philippines during tropical depression Vicky on Friday (Dec 18).

Jennifer Blando, who lives nearby, said the residents could not pass through the knee-deep floods with their vehicles.

Rescuers helped them transport their motorcycles across the flooded road - where a spinning whirlpool was forming - to reach the highway in Agusan del Sur province.

Jennifer said: ''The water almost reached the highway. I was praying it didn't get higher.''

Storm Vicky battered several provinces in the southern Philippines with flash floods and landslides forcing mass evacuations.

The storm made landfall in Davao Oriental, but the weather state bureau said Vicky is expected to continue to dump heavy rain until Sunday (Dec 20).
