Water gushing through a spillway almost covered a bridge in the Philippines during tropical depression Vicky on Friday (Dec 18).

Resident Celeste Pearl said they constantly checked the water in case it overflowed and submerged the bridge in Bukidnon province, which would block them from leaving their village.

She said: “We are always worried that we will be stranded in the village. I hope the weather gets better soon.”

Storm Vicky battered several provinces in the southern Philippines with flash floods and landslides forcing mass evacuations.

The storm made landfall in Davao Oriental, but the weather state bureau said Vicky is expected to continue to dump heavy rain until Sunday (Dec 20).
