Footage shows rescuers searching submerged villages in the Philippines after heavy rains battered the region.

The monsoon season caused a severe deluge in Cagayan province on December 21.

Towns were once again submerged and families returned to evacuation centres, just than two months since Typhoon Vamco had hit the region.

Rescue worker Francis Porque said they try to look for stranded residents when the heavy rains have stopped.

He said: “We want to have fewer casualties this time as we were badly affected by the recent typhoons.

“We do that by keeping a strong system of rescue and relief efforts among the people in our province.”
