Thai police raided gogo bars last night (Dec 22) to check they were following Covid-19 measures following an explosion of cases in the country.

Pattaya City Police and other protection units collaborated to make sure all tourist venues comply with the strict measures to prevent the spread of Covid -19 in Chonburi province, eastern Thailand.

Police stormed into stalls and bars in the south of Pattaya, best known for its adult entertainment venues that have remained open during the pandemic.

Officers made sure that all restaurants and clubs, including gogo bars, have temperature checks and hand sanitiser. All staff must wear a mask and comply with social distancing rules as well as enforcing a government tracing system.

The extra enforcement came after an explosion in Covid-19 coronavirus cases at a seafood market in Samut Sakhon province on the outskirts of Bangkok, where more than 1,000 Burmese migrant workers tested positive for the virus. There were also cases in surrounding provinces that have spread from people who visited the market - one of the largest in the country.

Thai Prime Minister ruled out a national lockdown but urged residents to be extra vigilant and follow preventative measures.
