A farmer made a campfire to keep away mosquitoes in the cattle stall but the wind blew the fire onto the hay which caused a fire.

Panicked villagers reported the blaze in the cattle stall in Buriram, Thailand, on December 21.

They had to extinguish the fire by using water near them to calm down the fires. Rescue divided into two groups to help three cows, taking around an hour to extinguish the inferno.

The cattle stall was damaged and 200 blocks of haystacks were ruined.

Farmer Bunnam Kongpolpan, 63, said: "I made the fire for the cows to chase the mosquitoes away, but forgot that there was a lot of wind that day."

None of the cows were hurt in the fire but Bunnam said it will take several weeks to repair the damage.
