A luxury apartment block that was abandoned before building work could be completed is currently crumbling and in tatters in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 30-storey building was once bustling with expats and locals in a sought after location on the Sukhumvit 33 area of the Thai capital.

However, it was sold to developers who started building and renovation work but abandoned the structure around 10 years ago.

The building's concrete balconies are now crumbling and bushes have overgrown on the roofs. Any plans to resume work on the building have been halted due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, which has decimated tourism in the country, which relied on visitors to make up 20 per cent of annual GDP.

Street food vendors have set up stalls outside while homeless people have taken over the lower floors of the building, which provide shelter from the searing daylight sun and cover from the heavy rain during tropical storms.

The mystery building now has little indication of who owns, why they left the property or if it will ever be completed for people to live inside.

Some superstitious locals even believe it is haunted or cursed, refusing to even consider living there if it was finished.
