A mother elephant and her baby were caught on camera raiding a house – chomping on trees and pushing a CAR.

The jumbos trampled over the front garden and headed straight to the juicy banana palm leaves at the home in Prachinburi province, Thailand on December 25.

Footage shows how the partners-in-crime were searching the area for food and began using their long trunks to reach the tree branches.

One of the palm trees was even snapped in half while banana leaves scattered across the lawn – allowing the elephants a late-night meal.

After finishing eating, the mother elephant then aggressively pushed one of the cars away, causing it to almost fall into a pond. She is believed to have been trying to reach food inside the vehicle.

Surawut, the homeowner, said: ''I hope the wildlife rangers will be able to keep the elephants away from our place. I really don’t want them to come back again.''

A nearby forest park officials identified the elephants as Deu and Meun, who are both known troublemakers in the area.

He said the two would always enter villages to destroy things when looking for food so angry residents want the pair removed.

He said: ''They have been kicked out of this village before, but because of their stubbornness, they have always found a way to return.''

The elephant is the national animal of Thailand. An estimated 2,000 elephants are living in the wild in Thailand and a similar number in captivity.

There is a conflict when they come in contact with humans who also use the area for farming and gathering food.

Elephants are a protected animal in Thailand and killing them carries a maximum prison term of up to three years and a fine of 1,000 baht (25GBP).
