A rare giant tusker was spotted in Sri Lanka's North-central province on December 16. The incident took place amidst the forest cover of Madatugama.

A video witnessing the incident features a herd of tuskers stationed in the middle of a clearing. The group, including infants, munch on the greens growing in the region.

A giant tusker enters the scene, grabs a portion of the grass, flaps its ears, and turns around to disappear into the woods. Unbothered by its presence, the rest of the herd continue eating.

Later, the tusker, along with its herd, strolls across the clearing and inspects the grounds with its trunk. It sways its trunk close to the ground before curling it up to rub its eyes.

Upon doing that, the magnificent creature walks towards the water and splashes water on its face. It turns around and strolls back to the clearing after winding up at the bank of the lake.

The rare giant tusker, identified as Barana, is known for its infrequent appearance in the Kala Wewa Reservoir region.
