Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of a young woman scaring off a machete-wielding attacker.

In the footage, captured in Fujian Province on Wednesday 11 February, the woman can be seen using an ATM when the man approaches her from behind.

During the attack, the brave woman screams loudly and manages to take control of the machete in the man’s hand, before he decides to runaway.

Later in the footage, the woman can be seen helping police to identify and arrest the attacker.

According to local news reports, the man remains in custody while police carry out further investigations.
