London-based director Tom Kingsley (@kingsley_tom) has built a cardboard "lockdown cinema" to go around his laptop and replicate the big screen experience - just in time for the UK's third national lockdown.

The funny clip from January 4 shows Tom's creation, which received an outpour of love on Twitter, being explored by his curious cat.

"I work in a cinema and this made me a bit emotional," one Twitter user commented.

Tom, whose credits include TV comedy shows such as "Ghosts" (BBC) and "Stath Lets Flats" (E4) told Newsflare: "In lockdown, I missed going to the cinema - so I made a cardboard cinema to go around my laptop. I don’t have a TV and I’m working on my laptop all day - which means that watching a film on my laptop in the evening doesn’t feel like a very special event. This cardboard version has made things a bit more exciting, though I can’t say it’s totally solved the problem.

"I used a cardboard delivery box and some art shop supplies. I was going to base the design on more normal-looking cinema, but I thought why not go luxury. Our cat Zuul was very interested and kept getting in the way while I was making it, so I tried to work on it when she was having a nap.

"My job is directing comedy TV shows like Ghosts and Stath Lets Flats - and during post-production, I'm always looking for ways to watch the rough edits with a fresh perspective. I thought something like this would help with that. But it wasn’t until the lockdown that I had enough time to actually make it!"
