Hilarious footage captures the moment a man dressed up as Super Mario was seen karting down a street in downtown Montreal on December 30.

The man ran onto Robert Bourassa Street as soon as the light turned red in order to prepare for his descent.

He then positioned his bright pink toy car and proceeded down the hill.

Onlookers who witnessed the bizarre event burst into laughter, especially when the man started throwing banana peels just as Mario would in the popular video game.

Filmer Valerie Durocher said: “My eyes caught a glimpse of this guy dressed as Mario and he was placing himself in the middle of the street during a street light.

"He then started going down the hill in a pink kids car.

"As he made his way down the hill; he was throwing banana peels, just like in Mario Kart.”
