This was the hilarious moment a woman spotted a squirrel in her garden holding a knife and gnawing on the end.

The clip, filmed on January 6 in Toronto, Canada, shows the squirrel on a fence playing with the knife.

"I often see squirrels all over our yard and area and carrying random trash but the blue really caught my attention. And then of course when I looked closer, I couldn’t believe it was holding a knife! I was worried it would hurt itself but turns out it liked it. It was gnawing on it for a while and then would drop it run away and then come back to keep gnawing on it," Andrea explained.

Andrea believes the squirrel got hold of the knife after she left it in the yard after a socially-distanced get together with friends.

Spotted the squirrel in my backyard around 10am on Wednesday morning. I often see squirrels all over our yard and area and carrying random trash but the blue really caught my attention and then of course when I looked closer I couldn’t believe it was holding a knife! I was worried it would hurt itself but turns out it liked it. It was gnawing on it for awhile and then would drop it run away and then come back to keep gnawing on it. We set up an open air tent and fire-pit to social distance with friends this year and must have left a knife (dollar store brand I believe) in the tent. They’ve also been covid conscious and eaten through all our hand sanitizer.

Our backyard is like the circle of life because our neighbour feeds ALL the animals - squirrels, raccoons, cats, rats (although I don’t like to think about those). They are practically tame (although not so sure after seeing this knife-wielding one).

It’s adorable and hilarious and speaks to this chaotic past year and start to 2021.
