This is the heartwarming moment a stranded puppy was rescued after falling into a 65ft-deep well in Thailand.

Concerned residents heard the pooch whimpering near their homes in rural Nakhon Ratchasima province on January 5.

Ther searched the area and found the four-month-old dog named Chao Khao wet and crying down the deep hole.

Animal rescuers arrived with long ropes to reach the hapless pooch stuck below without food or clean water.

The rope was attached to a net which was dropped to the bottom so they could scoop up the pooch, which was clinging to the sides to avoid drowning in the water.

One of the rescuers, Wat, 31, said the dog belonged to a resident in the village but it had wandered out of their yard.

He said: ‘I am glad we were able to help the dog and it survived the cold water. It could have died if it was not found on time.’

The puppy was dried using a towel and was checked for injuries before being given food.

It was returned to its owners uninjured, who thanked the rescuers for bringing their pet home safe.
