The lake a st chads water in Wilne near to Draycott, Derbyshire was frozen over on Saturday 9th January as cold weather continued to hit parts of the UK.

People were seen enjoying the ice as they frew sticks and stones onto the it creating an eerie noise which echoed across the whole lake. According to an online source which explains what creates the noise, the lake must only be partially solid, because it is the vibrations of the frozen and non-frozen water moving together that results in the sound when something is skipped across the top.

One family were seen having fun throwing ice onto the lake which failed to break the solid layer of ice covering the water.
