Photos show missing Indonesia jet, captured by a planespotter on December 27 but posted to Instagram just hours before it lost contact

These photographs show the missing Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737-500, taken on December 27 but posted on Instagram on Saturday (January 9) before news of the plane's disappearance broke.

Planespotter Ricky Liciandhika Putra, who posts on Instagram as mas_kentungs2, photographed the plane, registration number PK-CLC, at Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan International Airport in Indonesia's East Kalimantan province.

He posted the photos at 11.30 local time, just three hours before the plane lost contact at 14:40.

"The one that was grounded for a long time finally flew," captioned Ricky who also added that the aircraft was Boeing 737-500, Sriwijaya Air, PK-CLC.

An estimated 62 people were on board the Sriwijaya Air Boeing 737 which lost contact en route to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province, according to officials.

According to Flight tracking website Flightradar24.com, the aircraft had fell more than than 3,000m in altitude in less than one minute.
