A cold low-pressure system has continued to bring snow to the Japan sea side, brought record-breaking snow to the Hokuriku region. On January 10, about 1,500 vehicles stranded on roads and highways in the region due to heavy snow. And many damages were reported such as major disruption of transportation, fallen trees, and power outages.

A video posted on social media shows a shrine buried in snow in Niigata.
