Villagers in central India dig riverbed in search of missing hoard of Mughal-era coins
Hundreds of villagers in central India have been digging up a riverbed following rumours that missing Mughal era gold and silver coins are buried there.
Footage from Saturday (January 9) in Shivpura village, Madhya Pradesh, shows the search operation, which has been going on for the last week in the Parbati river.
According to the police, they are making efforts to convince villagers that such reports are baseless rumours.
According to local media, numbers have gone down, but some villagers have even hired labourers for digging.
