The first batch of the COVID-19 vaccine, Covishield, arrived at an airport in southern India's Andhra Pradesh state on January 12.

The shipment was received at the Vijayawada International Airport, located in Gannavaram in the Krishna district.

A video showing the arrival features several boxes of the vaccine being loaded from an aircraft. The vaccines, packed securely in white boxes, are then packed on a truck for transit, while authorities are present nearby.

The shipment contained boxes that had nearly 477,000 doses for the state. However, the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive will start from January 16, and the central government will bear the expenses of COVID-19 vaccination for frontline workers in the initial stage.
