Indonesian government begin vaccinating population against COVID-19

The Indonesian government has started its vaccination drive today with jabs being carried out and nationwide distribution taking place today (Janaury 13).

Footage shows boxes of the vaccine being loaded into vans ready to be distributed to medical centres on a more local level in West Sumatra.

The initial stages of the vaccine drive in this region will take place in Padang City and the South Coast district.

The city of Padang received 18,276 doses of vaccine, which will be allocated to 9,128 people receiving the first phase vaccine.

Meanwhile, the South Coast district received 3,630 doses of vaccine, which will be used for 1,815 people.

It is planned that the vaccination process in these two areas will begin tomorrow (January 14).

The first round of inoculations will also be distributed to government staff, including the governor and deputy governor of West Sumatra, while Indonesian President Joko Widodo receiving his earlier today.
