Twenty-year-old turban artist Pawan Vyas from India's northern region of Rajasthan has attempted the world record for the longest turban.

Footage from December 16, 2020, shows a volunteer have a long sheet of material spun around his head by Vyas to form the turban.

He wrapped nearly 478.5 metres (1,569 feet) of cloth on his volunteer's head, which weighed around 20 kg (44 lbs).

He completed setting up the headdress in 30 minutes and used 55 pieces of 8.7 meters (28 feet) long turbans.

Being an International Turban Artist, Pawan has experience of over 11 years and can wrap the headgear in 108 styles.

Hailing from Rajasthan, he has been tying turbans differently for different castes.

He understands the fact that a turban is a representation of one's identification and has mastered the art over the years.

Vyas aims to preserve the dying culture of wearing turbans and has excelled in the field ever since.

He received the certificate of establishing a world record in London's World Book of Records on Janaury 7 by former legislator Siddhi Kumari and marked Rajasthan on the world map.
