A young innovator, identified as Shyam Chaurasia, developed 'Intelligent Shoes' for the Indian Army in northern India's Uttar Pradesh. Hailing from Varanasi, Shyam always wanted to serve the Indian Army and created the boots to counter cross border infiltration and border security issues.

Ever since his childhood, Shyam wanted to contribute to the safety of soldiers posted at the borders of the country. However, recently, Shyam participated in the 'Innovation Science Exhibition' organized by the Uttar Pradesh government in association with the Ministry of Science and Technology, held in Gorakhpur. He presented his model of the shoes and went on to bag the first position.

The boots have a range of at least 20 km (12.427 miles) and are manufactured with laser sensors that detect the movement of enemies and alert the soldier. Apart from that, the boots come complete with two folding 9 mm gun barrels, which can be activated via a remote. The intelligent footwear thrives on wireless technology and has a solar charging system, steel sheets, light-emitting diode (LED) lights, 5V solar plates, a radio circuit, switches, an electronic trigger, and a vibration motor.

Shyam worked on the prototype for about one and a half months before presenting it during the event. The manufacturing process cost him nearly Rs 35 thousand (USD 478). He single-handedly developed the 'Intelligent Shoes' and won the competition. The young innovator's efforts were recognized by the Varanasi North constituency representative, Ravindra Jaiswal, who gave him a grant of Rs 50 thousand (USD 683) to fund his illustrious plans.

Shyam was elated upon being recognized and has expressed his desire to deploy the boots for the use of the Indian Army. The footwear ensures the safety of the soldiers posted at the border by detecting the movement of the enemies in and around the region to give the soldiers an upper hand in strategizing their move against them.
