A group of men from a village in southern India took part in a bizarre event on Thursday (January 14) to see who could cycle the slowest.

Contestants from Nellai District of Tamil Nadu state were required to remain upright at all times without putting their feet on the ground.

A man called Sakarai took first place after moving only a few inches from the start line.

The amusing event was part of the Pongal harvest festival.

Pongal Festival is not only a thanks giving Festival but also the season of sports and games.

During Pongal many traditional games will be played and also the some modern games.

Likewise in Rosemiyapuram village of Nellai District many games were conducted. One of such is that slow cycling game. The contestants are asked not to cross their tracks and should not place their legs on the ground once they start the game.
