Northern England is now experiencing snow after Storm Christoph lashed the region with heavy downpours all day today (Janaury 20).

Footage shows South Manchester experiencing snow only hours after weather warnings for rain were in place.

Manchester City Council said: "Significant rainfall is expected this week, which could lead to localised flooding.

"We are working hard across Manchester, ensuring gullies are clear in hot spot areas and monitoring weather updates. "

The filmer told Newsflare: "I was going to build an Ark, that's now changed to an Igloo! [I'm] not worried, although there is a flood risk from the River Mersey. Apparently, the sluice gates were open for the first time in about 50 years onto the flood plain."
