Locals in southern India's Tamil Nadu celebrated as United States Vice President, took her oath on January 20. The incident took place in the Thulasendrapuram village, located in the Tiruvarur district.

The United States inauguration ceremony plays on the screen while the onlookers eagerly wait for the Vice President to be sworn in. As soon as she takes the oath, the locals rejoice and are seen cheering, chanting slogans, distributing sweets, and bursting crackers.

Thulasendrapuram is the ancestral village of the newly elected United States Vice President, Kamala Harris. The locals in the region were elated upon her election. Ahead of the inauguration, special prayers for her success were also held at the town temple, and offerings were made to the deity to bless her with luck.

Harris has made history as the first woman, the first woman of colour, and the first person of South Asian descent to hold the vice presidency of the United States.
