Tunisian protesters have clashed with police for the sixth night in several cities, including the capital Tunis.

Footage filmed on Wednesday evening (January 20) in Ettadhamen, a district on the outskirts of Tunis, shows a street shrouded in tear gas as police continue to fire off rounds into the distance.

Protests were prompted by a bad economy, which has left a third of Tunisia's youth unemployed and a fifth of the whole country in poverty, according to the National Institute of Statistics.

Since demonstrations began last Friday (January 15) over 600 arrests have been made.
