Plain clothes police foil gem 'smash and grab'
Dramatic footage has emerged of plain-clothes police officers foiling an 'attempted smash and grab raid' on a jewellery shop in northwest London, UK on Wednesday.
According to local news reports, officers on patrol in an un-marked car intervened after they spotted two men on motorcycles crashing into the Wagonmark Pawnbrokers and Jewellers in Golders Green.
"I was in my flat, heard a loud crash, went downstairs and there was a motorbike down outside my door and undercover police on top of two suspects," the filmer, Alex Kryszkiewicz, later wrote online.
The two men were reportedly arrested while one police officer received a minor head injury.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman told a local newspaper: “Police were on patrol in an unmarked police vehicle in Golders Green at approximately 3.45pm on Wednesday when they saw a high-powered motorbike drive onto the pavement and smash the front door of a jewellery shop in North End Road.
“The pillion passenger then entered the store and officers intervened. No other persons are being sought in connection with the incident.”
