Ship passing in between the Red & Shivering Sands wartime forts off Kent, UK

Buy video

A ship is seen to pass between two sets of wartime structures - the Red Sands Forts in the foreground - and the Shivering Sands forts in the distance.

The forts were designed by Guy Maunsell and deployed in 1943 to protect London from airbourne attack, as enemy aircraft used to follow the Thames as an easy route which would guide them straight to the capital.

These over-wordly pieces of architecture now lay decaying and abandoned.

Footage taken just after sunrise from Minster on Sea, Kent on 21 January.
