Five people have died after a fire broke out at Serum Institute of India's Pune campus on Thursday (January 21).

Footage recorded by @Crido_3187 at almost 4 pm shows dark clouds of smoke rise from the building that was under construction.

Authorities say that the incident will not affect the production of Covishield, the coronavirus vaccine developed by the SII in partnership with AstraZeneca.

Another fire, though minor, broke out again at the same building in the evening, according to local reports.
