Dramatic CCTV footage has emerged from China of a man attacking a woman at an ATM after he suspected she’d stolen money from him.

In the video, captured on a security camera in a bank in Beijing late last month, the man can be seen violently seizing a 52-year-old woman around the neck and restraining her until police arrive at the scene.

According to news reports, the man returned to the ATM after accidentally leaving his card behind and jumped to his conclusion after he spotted the woman withdrawing cash from the machine.

Staff at the bank later helped the man to retrieve his card from the machine and he agreed to compensate the woman with 21,900 yuan (3,556 US dollars) for the attack.
