A skillful helicopter pilot from the National Fire Management System dramatically helps rescue a young man who had an accident while trekking in Cerro López de Bariloche in Patagonia, Argentina, on January 21.

The young man suffered several serious injuries on one leg after falling from an altitude of more than 2,000 meters.

The operation was carried out on the hillside, at approximately 2,400 meters. Several landings were attempted, proving impossible due to the steep slope of the hill in that place, so the only alternative was to keep the helicopter, equipped for fighting forest fires and transferring brigade members, stationary in front of the slope to carry out the rescue successfully.

The young man, who had the accident when he was trekking with his friends on Cerro López, in the Pico Turista area, suffered a considerable cut on one of his legs, which prevented him from continuing to walk.

Fortunately, the young people were able to communicate and ask for help, so the emergency team went to the accident area.

In the late afternoon, the rescuers began the descent of the injured man on a stretcher to an area where the helicopter made a base for his transfer to Bariloche.

Companions of the injured person and mountain guides made the first response accompanying the victim to the refuge sector of the Club Andino Junín de los Andes (CAJA), specifying his transfer by helicopter from 2700 meters above sea level to the San Martín de los polo field. Andes, where he was referred to the Ramón Carrillo Hospital for admission. In this way, the third rescue in 17 days was completed in the Lanín National Park.
