McDonald's released a limited edition chilli oil flavour of ice cream in northern China.

The video, filmed in the city of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province on January 25, shows a woman ordering food on McDonald's app and then getting a free chilli oil sundaes from the counter.

The woman said: "It just pours the chilli oil onto the top of the ice cream. Even the cleaner thinks it is unbelievable."

After having a try, the woman said: "It has a taste of Laoganma chilli oil and the seasoning from instant noodles." She then put a bit chilli oil ice cream onto her burger.

According to reports, customers can get a free chilli oil sundae with any purchase on McDonald's app on January 25. But the promotion was only available in Beijing, Hebei and Liaoning.

The chilli oil sundae is available to be purchased from January 26 to January 30 in three cities including Guangzhou, Shanghai and Shenzhen.
