An open-air laundrette is available to people in Delhi on the banks of what is described to be one of the world's most polluted rivers.

Footage from January 6 shows many people washing and drying their clothes on the banks of the River Yamuna.

Reports have suggested that, in Delhi, the river once known for its pristine waters is home to 58% of the city's waste.

The body of water has a religious significance as the Goddess Yamuna - who according to Hindu mythology - is the daughter of the Sun and it is known for worshippers to bathe in the water to relinquish their sins.
