Protesters gathered outside the Indian High Commission in central London on Tuesday (January 26), India's Republic Day, to protest new agriculture laws in India.

The proposals will loosen the rules around sale, pricing and storage of produce. The current rules protect India's farmers, and groups fear the changes will open them up to exploitation. Protesters and police have clashed during demonstrations in Delhi today.

Demonstrators in the UK held a car protest outside the embassy in Aldwych. At least one car was towed away by police and several fines were issued to protesters.

One of the protesters said in an interview that those "with a few acres will be suffering within the next five years" and warned, "businesses and farms will collapse".
