At 5 years old, she got her first surgery. And then another. And then another, and another, and another surgery. Years and years, surgery after surgery. All to fix the spinal cord tumor that Kristy Eastman was forced to deal with, that tormented her for so long in her life.

Her right leg was growing shorter than her left, and it affected everything about her.

"I had a limp. I hated my life. I hated how I look, and I had no interest in my own appearance," Kristy tells Newsflare about the difficulty she endured before she decided to change everything.

She made a bold decision: to cut off her leg to regain her life.

"It changed everything. It was the best decision I could have ever made. I saw amputees on Facebook, Instagram, and I saw how happy they were. I decided I have to do it." Kristy tells Newsflare exclusively.

After having the surgery on her leg in June 2017, she said everything changed for her.

"I didn't care anymore about the crutches, the disability. I wanted to share that message with others. I needed me growing up. I needed someone to show me that it's okay. To be more positive, I needed that," the 34-year-old said.

Kristy uses her wildly popular TikTok and Instagram pages, @disxabledbeauty, to spread her message of glamour, positivity, and acceptance, in these clips from December 12, 2020.

Kristy lives in St. Louis, Missouri with her 7-year-old daughter Eva, who's very proud of mommy and her "robot leg."

"It's so cute how she defends me, how she thinks it's cool. I just want to show kids that it's okay, that you never say never. I always would say 'I can't, I can't.' Now it's how can I? How can I adapt?' That's my message."
