Indian forest officials in Buguda, Odisha, rescued a leopard stuck in a trap that was intended for wild boar.

Footage from January 28 shows the wild cat entangled in an orange net and forest officials rushing to the spot to dismantle the poacher's trap.

After the leopard was calmed down it was then untangled from the netting and was driven to safety in Kaliamba forest.

The rescue operation lasted six hours.

Forest officials rescued a leopard that got stuck in a trap meant to capture a wild boar in eastern India's Odisha on January 28. The incident took place in Buguda town, located in the Ganjam district.

A team of forest officials rush to the spot and initiate the rescue operation. They try to free the leopard of the net while it displays clear signs of agitation. The forest officials struggle to calm the animal down and pin it down to the ground to free it from the trap. Once rescued, they carried the animal to their vehicle and drove it to safety.

It took the forest department officials nearly six hours to rescue the leopard. The big cat got stuck in a trap laid out to capture a wild boar by a poacher. However, the forest department personnel rushed to the spot on being alerted and rescued the animal, which was later released into the Kaliamba forest.
