PSV Eindhoven's stadium has been fortified amid fears of renewed protests against the country's COVID-19 curfew.

Footage from January 29 shows the Philips Stadium surrounded by large shipping containers, sealing the multiple entrances.

The stadium was fortified after the club received threats, according to local media.

The Philips Stadion, PSV club stadium in the Dutch city of Eindhoven is barricaded with containers to protect the building, the museum, fan store, gates, trackside and supporters home side from riots and looting as happened previously in the city.

The fortification and sealing of the front side of the stadium took place after the club received some threats according to the local media. Eindhoven faced some violent clashes during an anti-lockdown and anti-curfew protest that turned into clashes with the police, looting shops and damaging the city.

The Dutch government imposed in January a night curfew as stricter measures to fight the spread of the Covid-19 Pandemic and the new mutation. Previously since December 2020, a Coronavirus lockdown was applied with bars, restaurants and non essential shops and markets closed.
