This was the moment a violent fight broke out between a customer and staff at a branch of Sainbury's in south London's Clapham on January 31.

Footage shows the altercation starting at the self-checkout and eventually ending up outside the store.

The man being restrained is seen lashing out at a female employee, prompting a pile-on with beatings from staff and what appears to be other customers.

A witness at the scene said: "He was shouting but I don’t think it’s fair how he is being handled.

“He says hasn’t done anything and isn’t being violent or aggressive, but several security guards tackled him.”

One member of staff was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police later arrived at around 16:17 pm and detained the man.
