A newlywed couple in southern India's Tamil Nadu were blessed by a waxwork of the bride's late father.

When the wedding arrangements were being made, bride Lakshmi Prabha began to miss her father, who had passed away several years earlier, even more than usual. So her elder sister Bhuvaneshwari decided to get her a small gift.

She spent nearly £6,000 on a waxwork replica of their father and spent days with the makers to ensure it looked as lifelike as possible.

Bhuvaneshwari said: "It costs around 6 lakhs but we can see a smile in our sister's face."

At the ceremony, the newlyweds even bowed at the waxwork to seek the father's blessings, a scene that moved the onlooking guests.

This footage was filmed on February 1.
