A group of spectators were run over by a speeding ox cart after they moved closer to the track to get a better view.

A rider taking part in a race at Arakalagud, Karnataka, was unable to control his animals as they ploughed into the group.

Footage from January 19 shows several men tumbling under the wheels of the cart. Fortunately, they all only suffered minor bruises.

An eyewitness Anand Channahally said: “Luckily for them, the cart had rubber tyres and they got away lightly. If the cart had wooden wheels there would have been casualties.”

A group of negligent spectators moved closer to tracks to get a better view of an ox cart race in southern India on January 19.

The rider of one of the racing carts at Dodda Bommethi village near Arakalagud town was unable to control his animals and ploughed into them.

Shocking footage shows the group of men tumbling down as they come under the wheels of the cart. But luckily they all suffered just minor bruises which were treated with first aid.
