An amazing video has emerged of a meteor-like object spotted in the skies over Idaho, US on Monday.

In the footage, captured by an awe-struck resident in Rexburg on Monday night, the bright glowing object can be seen arching through the night sky, leaving a glowing trail in its wake.

Patrick Wiggins, NASA/JPL solar system ambassador to Utah, confirmed to a local news channel that the object was actually a rocket body used in the launch of Yaogan Weixing-26, a Chinese satellite that was launched in December 2014.

“The slow moving object originated from the south and headed north towards Montana. The colors coming off of the tail were amazing, vibrant bright oranges and yellows. I am still in awe at what I saw,” the filmer later wrote online.
