Residents in Myanmar's Yangon were seen banging pots and pans last night (February 2) in protest against the military coup that saw leader Aung San Suu Kyi detained.

Footage shows residents rattling their improvised instruments at 8 pm sharp to amplify their disapproval for the coup.

Across the city cars beeped their horns, cyclists rang their bells and pedestrians smacked their hands against signs.

The residents of Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, were banging drums, pots, pans and anything they could find to make loud noises showing their disapproval of the military coup. At 8pm, the first rattles and shakes echoed down the streets of Yangon, rumbling into a chorus of cheers and spoons clashing against pans. Cars hit their horns, cyclists rang their bells and passersby smacked their hands against signs and stone.
