This was the moment a Canadian pet owner caught their cat approaching their dog to "hold hands."

Footage from London, Ontario, on February 2 shows cat Snowball approaching dog Toxin in what usually is an antagonising way.

But, this time it appeared that Snowball was approaching the dog to hold his hand.

The owner explained: "I found this to be really funny because Snow is not usually so subtle.

"They often have little spats and are like human brothers having wrestling matches, chasing after each other, and generally being a nuisance to one another.

"Sometimes the dog initiates while the cat is lounging, this time it was the cat's turn to initiate.

"The main difference from usual is that he didn't stalk or pounce as a cat usually does, he just went straight for the goods.

"Toxin is pretty accommodating in general.

"If he is comfortable there isn't much that will bother him.

"After the video, the cat got distracted by something else.

"[The] dog never moved for the rest of the evening."
