Two hours of heavy rain in Indonesia caused floods to submerge houses and roads with a height of up to 1 meter.

In footage filmed in Bukittinggi on February 4, shows the high flow of water causes water to rush out of the ditch and overflow to fill the road.

The height of the water inundating the road reaches 70 centimeters.

Officers closed the road so that motorbikes and cars would not pass it.

Passing vehicles are forced to turn around and look for alternative roads.

Purwanto, a resident said that the flood occurred shortly after the rain. Heavy water mixed with trash quickly overflowed from the bridge.

"The bad habit of throwing garbage into the gutter has clogged the flow of water on bridges, then it overflows into roads and settlements," Purwanto said.

Officers and residents tried to close and divert the water flow with makeshift tools.

Meanwhile, at two other points, the flood submerged dozens of houses.

The water level in the house reaches one meter or waist height for an adult.

No residents were displaced due to this flood.

After the flood receded, officers and residents drew water and cleaned the house and yard.
