Around 500 million Vietnamese dong or just over $21,500 USD is what this red arowana is being valued at.

This species, known as the dragon fish, is thought to bring good luck and prosperity in Asian culture therefore demand for the fish is high.

The fish has been banned in the US under the country's Endangered Species Act and it is tough to breed further increasing the price.

Mr. Vo Minh Tri, who imported the fish from Indonesia to Ho Chi Minh City, said: "One meal for this fish is about 40 crickets or one centipede. The average lifespan of this strain is about 40 years, depending on the environment.

"The size of the aquarium has to be three times the length of the fish to be kept comfortable."

This footage was filmed on February 2.
