A southern Indian couple threw a baby shower for their pregnant pet dog last week.

Footage filmed in Hyderabad in the state of Telangana showed owners Nutakki Asha and Navakumar sitting on either side of their beloved labrador Steffi as friends and relatives gathered around.

In keeping with Indian tradition, they placed garlands around Steffi's neck and took turns to rub pigment onto her brow.

The couple's son Saneet, an engineering student, brought Steffi home when she was just 21 days old.

Since then, the couple says they have taken care of her as if she were their daughter.

A couple celebrated the baby shower of their pet dog in a traditional way in southern India's Telangana on January 31. The incident took place in Hyderabad.

The couple invites several locals and relatives to celebrate the baby shower of their pet during the daytime. Following this, the well-wishers one by one apply vermilion on the pup's forehead and feed sweets to her.

They throw a traditional baby shower for her and enjoy the occasion with a grand feast. After they conclude the ceremony, the guests are sent home with gifts.

The 15-month-old pet was identified as Steffi. The couple, recognized as Nutakki Asha and Navakumar, threw a baby shower for their dog and invited neighbors, friends, and relatives over to celebrate the occasion.
