Demonstrators in northern India today (February 6) formed human chains as they blocked a major highway in solidarity with a long-running protest by farmers against government reforms.

Footage showed congress workers blocking Highway 14 in Beawar in Rajasthan and chanting slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his ruling party.

Farmers are demanding the government scrap three farm laws which were published under Modi.

The protests have mainly been led by farmers from Punjab and Haryana although thousands are now joining in from other parts of the country.
