Badgers at home, digging, grooming, courting and scent-marking outside sett, then snow storm + muntjac, Part 1

Buy video

Badgers are one of the UK's favourite animals, yet we seldom see them at home.
A fortnight ago, I noticed signs of fresh digging outside a badger sett near #Stroud, #Gloucestershire, so I left a camera-trap there for a week. The results were very exciting for anyone interested in #animalbehaviour - the first badger emerged at 19.18, and about half an hour later one is briefly seen pulling bedding material into the mouth of the sett. There was activity every hour or two throughout the night, including during a snow storm with one #badger digging in the snow. I've selected a few examples of digging, grooming and scent-marking - both on the ground and on each other, back to back.
We end Part 1 of this two-part selection with a beautiful female #muntjac picking her way past the sett entrance in the fresh snow and golden early morning sunshine.
This is an extra #BrightenYourDay video to lift your spirits in #Covid19 #lockdown. You'll have to wait until tomorrow for the climax in Part 2.
