Science Park, Driac Crescent, Bristol, UK. 7th February 2021. A major testing regime begins in targeted parts of Bristol this morning to track cases of the mutated coronavirus variant. The so-called "surge testing" was announced by health officials recently in response to a cluster of 11 mutated cases of the Kent variant identified in the area earlier last week. Residents from 20 postcode areas in Bristol and four in South Gloucestershire are eligible for the new PCR tests, which have been selected as they are "in and around" where the initial cases were found. The three new testing sites opened at 9am this morning, specifically for people in those postcodes who do not have coronavirus symptoms and are situated at: Science Park, Driac Crescent, Emersons Green, BS16 7FR; Bristol City Council Rapid Testing Centre, 17-18 Wellington Road, BS2 9DA; Imperial Retail Park, Hartcliffe Way, BS13 7TJ.
